India hosts more Global Capability Centres than any country outside the United States. The cluster started in the early 2000s with cost-arbitrage IT services backed by a deep engineering talent pool. Twenty years later, the talent pool is the world's largest for software engineering, the cost arbitrage is smaller but still significant, and the operational maturity (compliance, audit, real estate, statutory infrastructure) is fully built out. The structural choice for new GCCs is no longer whether to come to India; it is which city, what structure, and how fast.

What is a Global Capability Centre?
A wholly-owned subsidiary of a global parent that operates in India to handle engineering, design, finance, operations, or research work for the parent. Different from outsourcing because the IP, roadmap, and culture remain with the parent. The talent is direct-employed (eventually) by the subsidiary.
Sales offices and branch offices have different regulatory frameworks and different scopes. A GCC is typically a Private Limited subsidiary with a broad operational mandate, capable of holding employees, owning IP, and operating across multiple statutory frameworks. The choice depends on legal structure preferences.
6-10 weeks if you incorporate first (and run a recruitment loop in parallel). 2-4 weeks if you start on Employer of Record (Versatile) and run the entity setup in parallel for transition at 25-30 hires. Most GCCs we work with start on the EOR-first path.
Operationally: Versatile is the Employer of Record while you build the team. As you cross 25-30 hires and incorporate your own Indian Pvt Ltd, we support the entity transition (UAN continuity, PF transfer, gratuity handoff). After transition, we can stay on as Managed Payroll if you want the audit overlay.
